English as the Official Language

English should be the official language of the United States / Texas. It is the common link that all Americans can share. There are so many cultures, traditions, and histories in America that we are as diverse a nation as could ever be imagined. We have the hard right, the hard left, and everything in between. We have communities for the old, for the young, for the gay, for the religious, for the fill-in-the-blank. There are more languages spoken in the U.S. than in any other country (possibly any other 10 countries combined); that is not even including United Nations buildings. We need a means to communicate universally. By making English the official language, it gives us that. U.S. English is probably the most accepting language in the world. If you give it enough time, it will accomodate your language as well, capisce?
